God says i will restore.
So what is restoration and how does God restore?
One day, the disciples of Jesus asked Jesus a question. Mt 17:11-3, Mk 9:11-13
Matthew 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
17:12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. 17:13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
So from these scriptures, the 'restorer' is John the baptist. But let's hear what John said
John 1:19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
1:20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
1:22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
1:24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
1:25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
So who is John?
John 1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
So John said, I am THE VOICE.
So when Jesus said 'Truly Elias shall come first and RESTORE ALL THINGS' he was saying THE VOICE OF GOD was going to restore all things. That's why John said ' I am the voice of one in the wilderness' John was saying I am THE VOICE of God ( the God you relegated to the background, 'in the wilderrness' ) i am that voice.
Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
1:2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
1:3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
So at that time in Isreal, John was the voice of God.

So how does God restore? through his voice.
What is the voice of God, where or who is the word of God?
Psalms 29:3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.
Waters in scriptures refers to the word of God.
Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word
The voice of God is the word of God.
So when Jesus said, truly elias will come first and restore all things, he was saying 'Truly! The Voice of God preceses Restoration and by implication, THE WORD OF GOD must come before a RESTORATION.
So, the change you desire is not in praying 'O God restore my wasted years, the change you seek is in the precise and accurate knowledge of God's word.
Let's quickly Joel 2:25 and pick out one more thing. Why did they need a restoration in the first place?
Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
Did you see that? The cankerworm,the caterpillar, and the palmerworm are of God. God called them 'My Great army!' This was why they went into the captivity in the first place.
John 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
Who did this? God! You need to know that everything is for God including the devil, the devil ensures the person suffers when he goes against the word or is ignorant of the word.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
The cankerworm, palmerworm and caterpillars destroyed their labour because, the knowledge of the holy one was absent. So the study of the word and the knowledge of the word is to your advantage. You don't study the wors because you want to preach, you study the word because you want to grow. Don't be a dwarf in the spirit.
Psalms 34:5 They looked unto him, and were lightened
2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD.
The restoration you seek is in the knowledge of the father.
